Simon, thanks for the reply. Good news. The build is planned for the Spring so no worries there. Thanks for making so much good info available.

Hi Matt once the oven is up and running it produces very little smoke to be honest - I would say much less than a BBQ. Probably better off waiting until we get some finer weather though before you build it. You need a good run of dry days unless you can build under cover.

Best of luck

Hi Simon,

I'm chuffed to have stumbled across your site, its inspired me to get on a build an oven. I have a *really* basic question to ask though - how much smoke can I expect from an oven sized roughly as yours? I'm planning to use seasoned logs, which I use indoors anyway, but never having seen an oven in action I can't envisage how careful I need to be in terms of siting it and not p!ssing the neighbours off!

Cheers,

That is a lovely idea Barry. Adding your grandmothers ashes to the mix will not effect the integrity of the oven at all. Please bear in mind though that the ovens are not permanent and might only last a few years at most.

Best of luck with it.

Hi. I wish to build a pizza oven, I absolutlely love pizza. My gran is Italian (Bella) and she died a few months ago, which was very upsetting for all the family. We thought we would pay her a tribute by... building a Pizza oven. For the ultimate tribute, we intend to mix her ashes in with the clay, but do you think doing so, will effect the structural integrity? Many Thanks.

The outside if the oven doesn't get very hot at all (hand warm only). Lot's of heat comes out of the chimney and the front though. As long as these are not near anything that is likely to burn - you'll be fine!

best of luck
